                                                       ELTs

                                                             Emergency Locator Transmitters

Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs) are the backbone of Search and Rescue for downed aircraft. Transmitting on the international distress frequencies of 121.5 and 243.0 MHz simultaneously, these solid-state transmitters are used by both search aircraft and specialized satellite to pinpoint the location of a crash site. Personal ELTs are also used by wilderness adventurers in case of emergency.
ELTs manufactured by Emergency Beacon Corporation provide some unique factures such as waterproof construction 1000 g impact resistance fire resistance and complete portability
Unlike other makes of ELTs. where the ELT is connected to an outside antenna, the EBC products are designed to survive a crash, and if necessary, be taken out by survivors in cases where the aircraft may be on fire or sinking in water - thereby increasing the survivor’s chances of being located
We offer 8 models of ELTs; from a pocket sized personal beacon to a helicopter version with dual accelerometers to provide true 360”. 6-axis sensing. We have a model just for you and your type of flying Other models featuring separately powered voice transmit or two-way communications are available.

EBC 102 (Right in Photo)
Designed as a portable rescue beacon that no pilot should be without! Intended for pocket, flight bag or survival kit, it features a safety locked activation switch. The size of a pack of cigarettes and weighing only 12 ounces, it has a lanyard for securing to belt, life jacket, etc. The battery is field replaceable, and since this is a personal ELT, there is no annual certification requirement. Battery shelf life is four years. Size is a mere 2.5 ”W x 1.25 ”D x 3.75 ”H.

EBC 102A (Second from Right in Photo)
Our most popular aircraft ELT. Based on the same circuitry found in all EBC ELTs, it features an external g-switch, with test lamp position. This is the smallest cabin mounted ELT in existence which meets TSO C-91 standards. The 102A weighs 1.2 lbs., including battery, and measures 2.5 ”W x 1.25 ”D x 6.5 ”H.

EBC 302 (Centered in Photo)
The 302 is the finest value in an ELT on the market today. It can be either automatically or manually triggered, and is a true ”smart beacon”, with a 360” omnidirectional accelerometer rather than a single-axis g-switch. The 302 can actually tell the difference between being dropped, a hard landing, or an actual crash. Weighs 1.8 lbs. and measures 2.5 ”W x 2” D x 6.5 ”H.

EBC 302H (not shown)
The 302H is a helicopter version of the 302, developed in recognition of the fact that a helicopter crash is dynamically different from a fixed wing crash. We added a second 360” accelerometer to create a true 6- axis g-switch. The 302H will respond to a crash force from any direction! The EBC 302H is the only ELT in the market with this design feature. Weighs 1.8 lbs. and measures 2.5 ”W x 2” D x 6.5 ”H.

EBC 502 (Second Left in Photo)
The 502 is basically a 302 with the addition of an aural monitor to alert the pilot when the ELT is activated. The 502 meets TSO-C91a standards. Weighs 2.75 lbs. and measures 2.5 ”W x 2” D x 8 ”H.

EBC 502H (Left in Photo)
The 502H is a 302H but with aural monitor to alert the pilot when the ELT is activated, meeting TSO- C91a standards. Weighs 2.75 lbs. and measures 2.5 ”W x 2 ”D x 8 ”H.

Mounting
Except for the personal beacon (model 102), all ELTs are supplied with a mounting bracket. EBC ELTs are designed to be mounted ”near door”, within easy reach of egressing crew or passengers. Each bracket is fitted with a security fastener, over which the ELT’s lanyard is secured.

ELT RECERTIFICATION

Canadian Airmotive has been servicing ELTs since 1973. We are also the distributors in Canada for the Emergency Beacon Corp. brand of ELTs, and we supply the Canadian military with direction finding equipment for its search and rescue aircraft.
Our ELT re-certification shop has earned a country-wide reputation for excellence in service and fast turn-around times Batteries are always in stock for all brands of ELTs.
ln Canada, ELTs must be re-certified annually. Due to this regulation the Canadian fleet of ELTs has been found to be reliable and effective in helping locate downed airmen and missing persons. Currently, ELTs meeting TSO-C91 are required; units meeting TSO-C91a are available but not required
We welcome your ELT business, and can provide 24 hour turn-around on shipped-in units; while- you-wait service is normally available for walk-in customers
